I went to the gym today for the first time in a long time. I'm off on Fridays, so I had no excuse not to go. I've always been bad about getting exercise. In the mornings I don't get up early enough to go to the gym before work, telling myself I'll go in the evening. But then I get home from work too late to go.
The funny thing is that I'm always glad that I've exercised on the rare occasions that I do. I must look like hell while I'm doing it because attendants keep handing me towels. I blame that florid Irish complexion of mine.
So I have to find the motivation to get up early enough in the mornings to exercise. Wouldn't it be nice if there were cash prizes available for doing the things you're supposed to do? $25 for flossing your teeth? $35 for moisturizing? $50 for exercising in the mornings?

We coud make a fortune, couldn't we?
ReplyDeleteOh, I think cash incentives are a wonderful idea. I can relate to the flushed face. Even when I walk around in my yard, my face turns so red that my hubby gets concerned. Congrats on exercising. I'm really going to start soon. Maybe tomorrow...or Monday...or
ReplyDeleteSue, that is a great start - working out on Fridays. Gradual steps, u can do it, tell your brain Fridays it is. =)
ReplyDeleteI think you have made a good step in the health & fitness direction by THINKING about this new lifestyle, and putting it in the front of your mind and just plain beginning somewhere. One of those 'somewheres' was enlisting Genevieve's support, and of course another is this blog, and reading other WL blogs..the steps are going to get more frequent, & more involved....but that frame of mind one is key!
With determination you can do a lot! You will probably even amaze yourself! Cheering you on. Chrissy
You guys have a cute blog going here :)
ReplyDeleteI think the motivation is a)how you feel afterwards and b)how you look after awhile. But if you COULD put some money in a jar after each workout (a quarter? a dollar?) and save that for some reward, that might be a good incentive...
